What is OpenGenesisLINK?
Project model, technical basis and scope of the independent open-source platform for connected virtual worlds.
Updated 2026-09-17

A new platform rebuilt from the core
OpenGenesisLINK is a completely new open-source platform for connected virtual worlds. The server is written in modern C++23 and follows a modular Core/World Node architecture.

OpenGenesisLINK is not an OpenSimulator fork and not a pure reimplementation. Legacy interoperability is intended to live behind isolated compatibility adapters so the native platform can evolve independently.
Platform goals
- own World Runtime and native Physics
- modern Identity, Asset and Inventory systems
- Social, Groups, Land, Estates and Moderation
- native federation through OGL-FED
- scripting and safe extensibility
- optional OpenSimulator Hypergrid compatibility
