Pathfinding: NPCs, routes and NavMesh

Pathfinding: calculating routes

In plain language: Pathfinding allows non-player characters (NPCs) to find routes around obstacles. A NavMesh describes walkable surfaces.

What exists in source?

  • Bounded A* terrain routes with clearance checks
  • Layered navigation with explicit verified stair and bridge transitions
  • Verified surfaces/raycast building blocks and an NPC waypoint follower
  • Experimental LSL llGetStaticPath and llGetClosestNavPoint
  • Firestorm NavMesh capability transport foundation
Limit: Real Firestorm-compatible NavMesh payloads and full NPC/character LSL behavior are not yet accepted in live tests. Pathfinding is opt-in and disabled by default; Firestorm menus may remain greyed out.
